RV rental Toulouse: Discover Toulouse with campstar

Toulouse is a very charming destination for a holiday with an RV. The capital is located in the south of France in the Languedoc-Roussillon/Midi-Pyrénées region on the Garonne river. A day trip to Spain is highly recommended, the Spanish border is not far from Toulouse.

The French affectionately call their city La Ville Rose. The city owes its name to its pink roofs. The locals have been using terracotta tiles since ancient times. The colourful façades add extra flair to the streets.

The cultural wealth of the city is breathtaking. Especially the museums with classical and medieval art are first-class. No visitor should miss a walk along the riverbank.

In addition to the museums, the old town also has numerous churches and ancient buildings. The small cafés in the alleyways invite you to enjoy coffee and cake. Afterwards, you can take a leisurely boat trip on the Garonne or watch a fast-paced game of Ruby in the stadium - there's never a dull moment in the city.

On the Canal du Midi, which was built as early as the 17th century, you can take a boat all the way to the Mediterranean. There are wonderful cycling and walking paths along the canal. The atmosphere in the city is decidedly convivial and friendly.

The French know how to enjoy life. This lively joie de vivre is infectious. France is always worth a visit.

Holidays in Toulouse - Rainfall

Spring is characterised by heavy rainfall and storms. They can get really heavy. In summer, the showers stop abruptly and it becomes very dry.

Autumn brings rain again, but not as much as in spring. In winter, snow is to be expected. For a holiday in spring, autumn and winter, it is worth packing rainwear and waterproof camping equipment.

RV rental in Toulouse - The most famous sights

When walking around the city, you should always have your camera ready. There are great photo opportunities everywhere. No visitor should miss these attractions:

RV rental Destination 1 - La Place du Capitole.

In the centre of Toulouse is the Capitole. It is situated on a huge square that has been around since the 12th century. When walking through the old town, you will almost inevitably pass by it.

There are also numerous cafés, bars and restaurants. The beautiful buildings make an excellent photo backdrop. It's fun to spend a few hours in this square and watch the hustle and bustle.

The Capitole houses the city administration, a theatre and numerous magnificent halls, but these cannot be visited. The neoclassical façade is a real eye-catcher.

RV rental Destination 2 - Old Town

The charming old town is best explored on foot. The tour starts on the east bank of the Garonne. The narrow alleys and pretty facades are really worth seeing.

The main stops along the way are the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Daurade, the Pont Neuf and the museum. The Basilica Notre-Dame de la Daurade is absolutely worth seeing. The church houses a wonderful Black Madonna.

RV rental Destination 3 - Boat trip

A boat trip on the Garonne is an unforgettable experience. The source is in Bordeaux and flows into the sea. From the river, you get a whole new perspective of the city.

Many boats also offer long trips with lunch on board. Afterwards, you can take a cycling tour along the Canal du Midi. The cycle paths along the canal are beautiful. The RV can easily be parked in one of the many car parks on the banks.

Tip: Rent a bike: You can rent modern and good bikes at the bike rental La Maison du Vélo. Another good option is Le Canal à Vélo.

RV rental in Toulouse - The best campsites in the region

There are three good campsites near Toulouse. All three sites are perfect starting points for trips into the city.

RV rental - Camping Toulouse Le Rupe

Camping Toulouse Le Rupe has beautiful pitches. The RV can be parked on grass. Don't be put off by the entrance, there is a lovely campsite behind the barrier.

Although the RV is almost in the middle of the city, you quickly forget the urban surroundings here. The sanitary facilities are clean and modern. Guests receive a very friendly welcome.

RV rental - Camping de la Bouriette

This campsite is located directly on the lakeshore and is therefore worthwhile for its beautiful location alone. But it has even more to offer, the sanitary facilities, the friendly owner and the fresh bread rolls are further good arguments for the site.

With a bit of luck, you can watch the nutrias from your camper. Nutrias are beavers that are becoming more and more common in Europe. By bus (L2) you can reach the centre in 15 minutes.

RV rental - Camping Des Lacs

Camping Des Lacs is not directly in Toulouse, but in Merville. The drive is worth it because of the lake. At this site you can park your RV right next to a small bathing lake.
