Camping in France: The land of endless opportunities

Hardly any other country offers such a variety of landscapes, art, culnary delights and cultural treasures as the land of chansons. Whatever you're looking for, La France has it!

As a land of water, it has two seas that couldn't be more different: The bright turquoise, calm Mediterranean Sea with beautiful sandy beaches and the wild Atlantic Ocean. France is also home to several lakes rich in fish and an almost infinite number of large and small, crystal-clear rivers, which do justice to the reputation of the "land with lots of water". In addition there are the numerous mineral springs known beyond the borders such as Vichy and Volvic.

The French flora and fauna is a real treat for nature lovers. Above all the Mediterranean coast of Côte d'Azur, where the yellow mimosas sparkle and where the smell of lemon trees, eucalyptus, rock roses, nerium, are a blessing to any visitor. And don't forget, the fragrant, purple flowering lavender fields of Provence and the numerous olive groves in Luberon?

The rather rugged, peculiarly shaped rocks can be found in Brittany, whose landscape is genuinely mystical. Just think of the impressive menhirs and dolmens.
Unique ancient buildings, Vauban's heirs and the UNESCO World Heritage Site dot around the country. Discover the well-preserved medieval fortress of Carcassonne, Les Baux-de-Provence perched high on a rock, the cave dwellings and cave villages of Rochemenier and those around Saumurs. Be a contemporary witnesses of the less glorious, more recent past such as Oradour-sur-Glane or the landing beaches in Normandy, which today seems rather peaceful. These are all French tourist magnets of a special kind, not to forget the regions with special culinary delicacies. The Atlantic coast between the estuaries of the Loire and the Gironde is a place to visit with its world-famous oysters. Alsace is home to its hearty cuisine and Périgord with its famous dish, foie gras and the black diamond of the region, truffle, as well as chestnut and wild boar dishes. The département of Auvergne prides itself in its range of tasty, moresome cheese. Last but not least, the champagne from the region of the same name, the cognac from the town with the same name, the Pineau from the Périgord, the cider from Normandy and of course the extremely delicious wine from each corner of the country.

Not only do many tourists visit France to relax and go on cultural excursions, but they also plan an active holiday. Where better to do that than in France, who accommodate for mobile homes, child-friendly and pet-friendly? Canoe or kayak tours on the Loire, the Ardèche, the Tarne or even on smaller rivers like the Drôme are perfect. Climbing and hiking in the Verdon Gorge, in the Cevennes or in the breathtaking Pyrenees as well as in the French Alps, will leave longlasting memories. France is also an El Dorado for cyclists, anglers, surfers and artists. Don't worry! For those of you who love winter sports more than anything, France accommodate for that too. And what about the weather? That couldn't be more different either. Pure sunshine on the Mediterranean coast and in Provence. Variable in central France and in the north. In winter there are regions in the Alps and the Pyrenees where snow is 100% guaranteed. No matter when, it is always beautiful! How about when it rains? No problem, visit one of 1,000+ art museums or castles that France has to offer. There is no such thing as "bad" weather.

Camping, always close to the action and at one with nature

Napoleon's birthplace is particularly popular with nature lovers and camping lovers. Whether you camp in a tent, campervan or caravan, a very close-knit network of campgrounds makes your search much easier. Almost every place has its own campground.  The kind of campgroundvaries from place to place. From small, family-operated campgrounds with olive farmers or winemakers to larger campground chains. They all offer enough space both for campers and motorhomes. Electricity is always provided and of course the tpical French baguette will always be found in the mornings. But where can you find these places to spend the night and feel good? For those who love the hsutle and bustle, it's best to head to France's most famous cities adored by the rich and famous, such as Paris, La Rochelle and Vichy. Areas such as St-Rémy-en-Provence or Arles are also very popular, where you can walk in the footsteps of Van Gogh, as well as along the famous Way of St James to the Stevenson. The French islands of Île d'Oléron and Île de Noirmoutier also offer this expereince. But unlike many countries, camping in France is possible wherever you choose it to be: in the midst of idyllic countryside, surrounded by grazing livestock, covered by the starry sky and surrounded by nature, you can legally pitch your tent or park your campervan anywhere you like and simply relax. True freedom!  Holidays for all the senses, an escape from the everday stresses of life. You can't do it better than in the land of fashion designers, chansons, oysters and art. Discover France and daydream whilst looking at the burnt-orange sunset, drinking a good red French wine and getting ready for the next place you have in store for the morning. Yes, it might sound a bit cheesy and perhaps unrealistic, but it really is true and easily doable.
