Campsites between the North Sea and Ijsselmeer

The scenic and cultural provinces of North and South Holland extend along the west coast of the Netherlands from the island of Texel in the north to the delta of the Rhine, Meuse and Schelde in the south. At the Ijsselmeer, the ports of Hoorn, Enkhuizen or Medemblijk, bordered by winding gables of old merchant houses, represent the country's great tradition as a maritime nation. When embarking on a traditional flat-bottom ship, you can imagine what it was like to sail in the past. In contrast, the Netherlands is also home to the largest deep-water port in Europe, Rotterdam, which can be admired today by its huge ships. If it snows in winter, the dunes are perfect for to go tobogganing, with some dunes reaching 50m high in Schoorl. North and South Holland are a year-round destination for campers of all kinds.
