In addition to culture and good food, France also offers a beautiful coastal region, where you will find many beautiful campsites to stay in. We created a list of the ten most beautiful beaches in France, so you know where it is worth camping.

The beach de la Côte des Basques

Plage de la Côte des Basques – Camping in a surfer’s paradise

If you want to have the view of a breathtaking landscape, while you are surfing, then you’ve come to the right place! The beach de la Côte des Basques is located in the small town of Biarritz in the southwest of France. It became famous in the middle of the 19th century when European royals started spending their holidays there.

A short walk to the Rocher de la Vierge is definitely worth your time. From this vantage point you are going to have the best view of the Atlantic as well as the beaches of Biarritz.

If you are travelling as a family, you should definitely make an excursion to the Aquarium de Biarritz. You will find many marine animals and a lot of exciting information about their life in the sea.

The beach du Sillon

Plage du Sillon – The Allrounder

This beach is the city beach of Saint Malo. You can surf here, go for long walks or swim in the sea on hot summer days. Especially impressive is the change of the landscape depending from the ebb and flow.

The city of Saint Malo in Brittany offers even more sightseeings. It is not only the most visited place in France, but also the most important port on the north coast of Brittany. Its historic city centre invites you to stroll through its small and winding streets and offers you the opportunity to visit the old fortress. If you are interested in technology, take a look at the tidal power station, which you can reach in 20 minutes by car.

The crystal blue water of the beach de Palombaggia

Plage de Palombaggia – The Caribbean of Europe

Unlike the two previous beaches, this beach is not on the mainland of France, but on the beautiful island of Corsica. Due to its very clear water, you will almost feel like in the South Seas. The beach is ideal for snorkelling.

But Corsica has more to offer than just this amazing beach. You can, for example, hike in the river, where you will come across small pools to cool off. Alternatively you can visit the town Bonifacio. From the tower you can on clear days all the way till the old town of Sardinia!

The white sand of the beach de Saleccia

Plage de Saleccia – For adventurers

This beach is also located in Corsica, but it takes some courage to reach it. The best way to do this is with a mountain bike or an off-road vehicle. Another, but more expensive option is to take a small boat.

The old changing rooms on the beach Deauville

Deauville – Camping with USA flair

You will recognize beach Deauville in Normandy by its long wooden promenade, which runs along the beach and on which you can stroll comfortably along the sea. The old changing rooms located on the beach are named after great movie stars and directors. This is due to the American film festival that takes place in the area.

You can also go to the racecourse in Deauville or challenge your luck at Europe’s most famous casino.

The beach Touquet in France

Plage du Touquet – Camping on the endless beach

If you happen to camp here, you will find a rich option on activities to do on the beach. From watersports till spontaneous football matches on the beach, your possibilities are endless.

If you’re a fan of golf, you’ve come to the right place. You will find several golf courses in this small town on the English Channel. And if the weather gets bad, you can find shelter in the aqua park Aqualud.

The beach of St Tropez

Plage de Pampelonne – Camping in Saint Tropez

If you are looking for luxury and glamour, then the Côte d´ Azur is the right place for you! In addition to its glamour you will find in Saint Tropez the fortress la Citadelle. Alternatively, you can visit Place des Lices and try different specialities from the province.

The endless beach Wissant

Wissant Beach – For explorers

When the tide is low you can see mussel banks, an ancient ship and even the remains of a submarine. In the nearby Pas-de-Calais you can discover traces of the Second World War. However, if you are more interested in fashion, then a visit to the Museum of Lace and Fashion is going to be worth your time!

The rocks near the beach Hendaye

Plage d’Hendaye – Camping at the border

If you do not only want to explore France, but also its neighbour Spain, then you’ve come to the right place. The beach is only separated from Spain by the mouth of the river. Therefore you can swim to Spain, isn’t that cool?

You will furthermore find the Château Observatoire Abbadia in the city Hendaye. The castle on the hill is an absolute must for architecture enthusiasts, but also for all those you want to enjoy the magnificent view!

The crystal blue water of Corsica's beach Petit Sperone

Plage du Petit Sperone – For nature lovers

Last but not least Corsica. The crystal clear water of the beaches invite you to dream and snorkel in the South Sea. You can only reach the small bay on foot after walking over hills and dales, but I promise it will be absolutely worth it and you will want to come back again and again.
