Showering on the road with and without a camping shower – Here’s how!

You have already rented a campervan without a camping shower, are thinking about doing so or would like to buy one? Now you’re wondering how you’ll manage without one or whether it would be better to switch to a campervan with a camping shower? Before you make that decision, we’d like to introduce you to some helpful and practical outdoor showers that you can easily use when camping. You can also read our other tips on how you can enjoy your holiday without your own camping shower in your campervan.

Practical camping showers and outdoor shower cabins

The practical outdoor showers

Probably the best-known way to freshen up easily while camping is the garden shower. They come in a variety of designs, ranging from simple attachments for the garden hose to luxurious cabin showers with marble floors and chic terracotta decorations. You can set up the mobile garden showers quickly and easily anywhere in the garden or simply put them in your campervanto unpack them when camping wherever you want and enjoy a soothing refreshment. If there is no water available, simply connect it to a water canister that you bring from home. Hot water is provided by a standard heater, which you operate via the 12-volt plug of your campervan.

Portable Solar Showers

A solar-powered shower is a good way to operate a camping shower and supply it with hot water. You can put the solar panels on the roof of your campervan or simply on the ground. Some outdoor showers even have a stand that holds them up securely when standing on the grass. Your camping shower then uses the solar energy to heat the water in its tank, so you can then shower comfortably and easily on the go.

Battery-powered camping shower

An alternative to the solar shower is the battery-powered camping shower. This has a rechargeable battery that you can easily charge at home or via the 12-volt connection of your campervan before your trip. This way, you always have hot water available, even in winter, so you can easily take a shower on the road.

The Foot Pump shower

The Foot Pump shower as a camping shower has a foot pump that transports the stored water via the shower hose into the shower head. Simply fill it up with water beforehand. It is also a useful outdoor shower that allows you to shower easily and comfortably when you are on the road.

Showering at a campsite

You’re on the move, but want to avoid the usually high costs that campsites charge for overnight accommodation and don’t have an outdoor shower with you? Are you planning to camp at a certain location where there is no campsite and no shower? Then simply stop at a campsite on the way and ask for the possibility of taking a shower on the way instead of staying overnight. Most operators are happy to provide this service too.

Showers at the beach

Did you know that free showers are available at many beaches? Yes, it really is that easy! You can just drop by while camping and freshen up for free. Who needs their own shower or even an expensive hotel room?

Truck Stop showers

The service stations along the motorway that you pass on your way to your camping spot also have showers for travellers. These are usually not free of charge, but they offer more comfort than an outdoor shower and make your holiday more enjoyable. To get a shower key, all you have to do is ask for it at the checkout, pay for it and leave a deposit.

Showers in the hotel or guesthouse

Many hotels and guesthouses offer travellers without outdoor showers the option of booking a shower instead of an overnight stay or renting a room by the hour. If you only rent the room for an hour, for example, you can use the hotel’s hot water during this time and refresh yourself pleasantly.

Cleansing wipes in the worst case

If none of the above options are available, you can buy special cleansing wipes in the shop. These already contain a kind of shower lotion, and you can use them like a washcloth to quickly freshen up on the way.

Hire a campervan for your next adventure!

Conclusion

As you can see, it’s not the end of the world if your campervan is not equipped with a shower, because there are numerous practical alternatives for enjoying a pleasant refreshment on the road. The practical outdoor showers are just one option. With them, you don’t have to do without anything when camping and you also have the opportunity to save a lot of money. Whatever you decide, we wish you lots of fun camping and great experiences on your next trips!
