Hire a campervan in Iceland and discover geysers, hot springs, waterfalls, breathtaking coastal landscapes and black sand beaches. Since it is an island, it should actually say "on Iceland", but Icelanders prefer "in Iceland". With almost 330,000 inhabitants, the country has a similar population to Bonn. Possibly this is one of the many factors why the country with its small population is so attractive. With a campervan you can explore the most beautiful corners of Iceland.
Most of Iceland's social life takes place in the western part of the country, around the capital Reykjavik. Around 120,000 locals live here, more than a third of Iceland's total population. Since the airport is located here and the city is worth seeing, it is a good idea to rent your campervan for Iceland in the city.
Iceland is particularly appreciated for its friendly people and culture. Several sights are located in and around the city, as well as many bars, restaurants and cafés. After enjoying the city life, nothing stands in the way of a great trip with the campervan.
One possible destination could be the Blue Lagoon in the southwest of Iceland. The well-known saltwater lake with a temperature of around 40°C is not only a feel-good experience, but also a real eye-catcher with its blue and white colour. But the country also has other natural spectacles of all kinds to offer. For example, Iceland's most impressive waterfalls or black sand beaches can be visited on a campervan tour. One of the most famous waterfalls is Gullfoss, which plunges about 30 metres into the depths on two levels and offers a unique view. Skógafoss is no less spectacular.
The "Great Geyser" is the name of a group of geysers, of which Strokkur is particularly active. It erupts about every ten minutes and is a true natural spectacle with a fountain that can reach a height of thirty metres. Just north of the geysers is a glacier that delights visitors. Langjökull is considered the second largest glacier in Europe and can be crossed in an ice tunnel. This makes it an extraordinary place that presents breathtaking views and offers spectacular photo motifs. The largest national park in Europe is Vatnajökull National Park, which is about 5 hours from Reykjavik.
Landmannalaugar is an impressive mountain range that boasts different colour variations and mystical landscapes. The mountains, formed by the nearby volcanoes, are a must-see in Iceland.
