Important information and facts about Naples

Sights and surroundings of Naples

Naples is a beautiful city with many old streets, numerous squares and a variety of landscapes in the surrounding area. Naples itself has many museums, an old town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site called Centro Storico, and a monastery called Santa Chiara. Naples also includes the mighty Vesuvius, a volcano that is seething but no longer active. It has not erupted for many years and there is a panoramic hiking trail around the crater. Besides Vesuvius, the Amalfi Coast with its towns of Amalfi, Ravello, Positano and Sorrento is considered one of the most beautiful coasts of the entire Mediterranean, with houses built directly into the rocks. The cathedral of Amalfi and houses in Positano nestled against the mountain are highlights of a RV trip along the coast. Another popular destination from Naples are the islands of Ischia, Procida and Capri, which are very contrasting when RV rental in Naples. On the island of Ischia is the extinct volcano Monte Epomeo. It is also the highest mountain on the island and forms the centre. Bathing resorts such as Ischia Ponte, Cassamicciola, Lacco Ameno and Forio wind along the coast. Sant' Angelo and Maronti beach with its black lava sand are also charming and invite you to linger. The island of Capri with Anacapri and Capri Town is smaller than Ischia, but just as scenic.

Climate and weather in sunny Italy

Italy has Mediterranean temperatures, which means that summers are hot and dry and ideal for swimming in the Mediterranean. The beaches along the coast invite you to linger in the summer. Even into October there is still a lot going on here, as the water temperatures are then still more than 20 degrees. The bathing season starts in May. In the north of the country, however, there are the Alps, which are ideal skiing areas until April. The pistes for skiers and winter sports enthusiasts are in South Tyrol. In this part of the country, the climate is alpine and temperate, as in the entire Alpine region. In spring and autumn, it is often very mild in Tuscany and the south of the country, the sun often shines and many people come to the regions for hiking and round trips. However, it is also particularly charming in winter on the coasts. Even in November and December, the temperatures are usually still between 14 and 18 degrees Celsius, which is why many people travel to the south when snow has been falling in Germany for a long time. This is exactly what makes the Mediterranean climate so special. Rainfall is not as frequent here as the sun, which appears almost daily at around 35 to 40 degrees, especially in summer.

Camping options and individual sites around the city of Naples

When renting a RV in Naples, there are numerous campsites that are ideal for RVs. In the middle of the countryside and near the coast, there are many beautiful places where you can spend the best time of the year with your RV. Renting a RV in Naples is also cheap because there are numerous campsites and RV sites along the Amalfi coast and around Naples.

  • By the sea: Particularly attractive are the sites near the coast, which are only a few metres from the sea and are idyllically situated in the countryside. Naples and its surroundings offer so much to camping holidaymakers.
  • On the islands: A trip by boat to the island of Ischia or Capri is always very appealing. But Procida, the little sister island, also offers a lot of contrasts.
  • Pompeii: The largest buried city near Vesuvius. It came to a tragic end in 79 AD during an eruption of the giant.

There are some beautiful campsites on the islands and near Pompeii, just like on the Amalfi Coast. With the shimmering moon in the sky and the numerous stars, you can enjoy your holiday here without a care in the world.

Important information about RV rental in Naples

There are a few things to consider when renting a RV:

  • Choice of RV: Whether you choose an alcove or rather the classic RV van depends on several factors. It depends on the price, your trip and, of course, the number of people.
  • Before the journey: When you pick up the vehicle, you should check whether there are scratches in the paintwork or dents from a previous accident. The tyres should also be checked for abrasion or bumps. When first inspecting the car, it is also important to find out whether it runs on petrol or diesel.
  • Tolls: In Italy, tolls are charged as soon as you enter the motorway. When exiting the motorway, there are several toll booths where drivers have to pay the toll. However, cash and card are usually accepted here. If you don't want to pay tolls, you should use the country roads. For longer tours, however, this is very time-consuming.
