England, the Land of Tea, Crumpets and Luxurious Camping Destinations

England is one of the world's most growing camping destinations. With its rolling hills, quirky cultural traditions and hearty food, England should be your next camping destination.

This country is covered by wonderful landscapes and a lavish countryside. Whether you are looking to pitch a tent, or drive from campground to campground in your campervan/motorhome, whether you are looking for a seaside retreat, a glamping resort or you want to get lost in nature, you will easily find the perfect campground to fulfil your holiday wishes.

What does England have to offer?

Nature lovers will love the abundance of National Parks that England has to offer. From the moors, meadows and wild landscapes of Northumberland National Park in the north of England, to the rustic, tranquil forests and coastline of the New Forest National Park in the South. England has 10 National Parks and 34 additional Areas of Natural Beauty (AONB) scattered across the country. Although there are designated campgrounds and camping areas, wild camping is not allowed, unlike in France. However, if a particular place strikes a chord try and find the landowner and ask if you can stay there. English people are generally very welcoming!

Looking for the perfect campground?

Whether you're doing a tour of England, or going to aparticular place, there'sa number of campgrounds that you should keep an eye out for. Our customers say that these campgrounds provide the best camping experiences:

Henry’s Campsite – Situated in Cornwall at one of the most southern points of England, Henry’s Campsite is a family run site with a panoramic sea view and sunsets to die for. Most of the pitches on the site have private sea views and you are only a short walk away from the local village, where you can find several shops, pubs and restaurants.

Canterbury Camping and Caravanning Club Campsite – If you’re travelling in a caravan or in a motorhome, this campground might be the one for you. Canterbury Camping and Caravanning Club campground is situated on the other side of the southern coast and is only a mile south of Canterbury. This is perfect for exploring the history and heritage of this city. Canterbury is famous for its grand cathedral and castle, making it great for a family day out.

Sandfield House Farm Caravan Park – This campground is situated between Witby and Sandsend on the north-eastern coast of England, in North Yorkshire. A well-maintained site with good facilities and a beautiful view of the sea. The nearby beach is unspoiled, and the area is perfect for dog walking and hiking.

Bagwell Farm Touring Park – Situated near Weymouth, Bagwell Farm Touring Park is the perfect base for your Dorset getaway. The southern Jurassic coast is known for it’s warm summers and pristine waters, which allows this campground to be open all year round - perfect if you are looking for some peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle in the city. The tranquil surroundings will blow you away. With only a short distance from Weymouth, there are many things to see and many beaches to explore. Weymouth is well known as a top luxury camping destination.

Camp in England and have the time of your life!

As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to go camping in England. Nothing can beat an English breakfast, or a hot cuppa tea on a chilly day. The medieval towns and quiet villages will ensure that you are both enlightened and relaxed. Don’t be shy! Go for a pint at the local pub! The vibrant atmosphere and community-based activities will make sure that you are having a great time. The culture differs from region to region, but every place has its unique identity, which means that there are many people to meet and many customs to experience. Complaining about the weather is part of British culture and you must do this at least once during your travels for it to be a real English experience. If you are a camping enthusiast, or if this will be your first camping experience, you are bound to find many like-minded campers to share your experiences with and be part of the ever-growing Campstar Community.
