The city's landmark is the 116 m high tower of Freiburg Cathedral. The Gothic tower towers over the entire old town. The Schlosseberg, a local recreation area with many hiking opportunities, can be easily reached from Freiburg by train.
Geographically, Freiburg is located in Baden-Württemberg. The Upper Rhine Graben, the bay and the Black Forest characterise the landscape. Nice excursion destinations with the campervan are the city of Mulhouse in Alsace as well as Basel, Strasbourg and Zurich. All these large cities are within a radius of about 50 km.
It is only 42 km to the Swiss border. The town itself is already situated in the foothills and has a difference in altitude of 1000 m. The highest point is Schauinsland with an altitude of 1284 metres. The 48th parallel north runs through the middle of the city.
The point is marked on Habsburg Street and made clear by different coloured stones. Beautiful hiking areas are in the Zarten basin at Bergen Roßkopf and Brombergkopf. Günterstal is also very pretty and is already in the Black Forest.

Camping Hirzberg is a very good and quiet site close to the city. The welcome is very friendly and the sanitary facilities are in good condition. The pitches are mostly on a grassy area for the campervan, but there are also asphalt pitches.
The site has a sustainable concept with green electricity and organic food. The old town is easy to reach by bike.
Tip: Rent a bike: Bikes can be rented in town at the bike station right by the train station.

The city is easy to reach by campervan, the transport network is well developed. However, the A 830 motorway is still in the planning stage.
The city itself does not have its own airport, but there are a few international airports in the area. Basel airport would be a good choice.
