The small town of Werder lies directly on an island in the middle of the Havel. 26,000 inhabitants live in the resort town, which can be seen from a distance thanks to its church and windmill. There is a wonderful car park for the campervan just before the first Havel bridge. From there you can continue on foot through the medieval town centre, the unique cobbled streets and the many quaint shops. At the very end of the town there is a delicious fish smokehouse where you can have lunch or dinner. Here you sit on a terrace directly above the Havel and look out over the water. The buildings are still there today and can be visited as a museum. Just buy a ticket at the entrance and you can enter the exhibition. Many of the houses are very old and dilapidated, and there is a lot to see here, especially for Urbexer and Lost Place fans.
